Random Thoughts 5/8/2016

Sometimes we seem to be our own worst enemy, we tend to judge ourselves by impossible standards and with a harsher eye. We allow the opinions of others to influence our self-image, which if its positive is a good thing but unfortunately people are quicker to point out the flaws and mistakes in others than the good points. WE ned to learn to accept our own imperfections as a part of who we are now, if we don’t like them then we can change them as time goes by. But no reason to be down on yourself for being human and being imperfect, it’s all a part of life and growing as a person.

By understanding this about ourselves we also to accept the imperfections etc. in others as well. This is good for it will foster a friendlier atmosphere be it at home, work and when we are out having fun. Life is way too short to be a perfectionist and one who can’t be forgiving of themselves or others.

In a great portion of religions in our world there is a universal belief in forgiveness. Buddha, Jesus and Mohammed showed mercy and forgiveness to both their friends and enemies.

A few scriptures/quotes:

Luke 6:37 (NIV) Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

John 20:23 (NIV)23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

“Keep to forgiveness (O Muhammad), and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant.” (Quran 7:199)”

“Good and evil are not alike.  Repel evil with what is better.  Then he, between whom and you there was hatred, will become as though he was a bosom friend.” (Quran 41:34)”

“These two are fools. Which two? The one who doesn’t see his/her transgression as a transgression, and the one who doesn’t rightfully pardon another who has confessed his/her transgression. These two are fools. ~Buddha

When you forgive me for harming you, you decide not to retaliate, to seek no revenge. You don’t have to like me. You simply unburden yourself of the weight of resentment and cut the cycle of retribution that would otherwise keep us ensnarled in an ugly samsaric wrestling match. This is a gift you can give us both, totally on your own, without my having to know or understand what you’ve done. ~ Buddha

Now looking at those scriptures/quotes we can see forgiveness is something that is considered important to so many belief systems and/or religions.

Then why is it such a rarity in modern times? Why is their hatred, distrust and so much resentment in our world? Many read and hear the words , but few ever listen or want to embrace them. It is far easier to hate, resent and/or fear than to forgive and accept one another it seems. To hate someone because they are of a different race, religion or sex is not the right path to follow, we all are human, we all have problems, have emotions and most of us prefer to live in peace and harmony with each other.  Instead of hatred of what is different we should embrace our differences, this is what makes the human race a unique and marvelous species. Our diverse selection or religions and belief systems shouldn’t be what divides us, it should be what binds us through mutual understanding. There are similarities between most religions and we should focus on those things. Such things as forgiveness, compassion and love.

My wish is that every child of today and the future will be able to grow up happily, without war, prejudice and hatred. They deserve the freedom and happiness we have denied ourselves. It should be all about the children and the future generations not about our generations and our failings.

Freedom of Speech, Religion and Expression without the threat of oppression or consequence is the cornerstone of a utopian society. Prejudice, fear and the lack of compassion are the stumbling blocks of humanity.

Which path in life shall you choose?

003Kindness, a quality rarely found in our society. Though there are the few kindhearted and compassionate few in each community.  Unfortunately kindness is not something most parents focus on teaching their child. Kindness is a considered either a weakness or luxury in some people’s minds. Focus on being successful socially and eventual financially is the norm.  I am not saying those things are not important, I am stressing that kindness and respect should share in  importance when it comes to teaching our children. Strength is not measured by ones cruelty , rudeness or lack of kindness. True strength is tempered with mercy, kindness and compassion.

Through a kind heart a community can learn to come together and take on the challenges that communities face. Through kindness and compassion a community can find the unity required to reduce such things as hunger, poverty and homelessness. Generosity also plays a big part in it all as well.

Kindness, Mercy, compassion and forgiveness mean far less when they are reserved only for those whom you know or love. They really show their worth and power when used on strangers and even those you consider as your  enemies.

Some Random Thoughts for you to think on.

Blessings to you all

001You are unique, one of a kind and the only living being in the entire universe that’s exactly like you. Only you have the DNA sequence that you do, only you have had the experiences that you have had and the thoughts you think. Yes there may be those similar to you but none quite like you in whole.

Each one of us are unique and special because we are all one of a kinds. No one is greater or lesser in life, we all are equal and any belief there is a superior or lesser quality is an illusion and tragic disbelief that leads to unneeded injustices. There are those who are more suited for one tasks and less for another, this is part of the diversity which makes humanity the great creation we are. One may excel in physical prowess and another may excel academically. Both are important qualities needed by humanity and neither is greater or lesser than the other.  Once we as a species learn to overcome things such as prejudice, bigotry and elitism, we will finally be on the road to our true potential as a species.

We have a long road ahead of us, humanity is still plagued with fear, mistrust, greed and the injustice of inequality. Seems humans have a hard time letting go of tragedies and the mistakes in the past. This hinders humanity from moving forward and it jeopardizes the future of our species as a whole.  With so many issues to face in the present, wasting time holding grudges and fearing the unlikely we will find ourselves too preoccupied to find the solutions we need. Governments are too preoccupied and distracted by both political party differences and unnecessary rivalries between nations to focus on the real issues at hand.

Greed, fear and the lust of power has way to much power over those in Government, only if they could focus on the real issues and learn to work together. We all are equal in birth and we all in the end must face our equality in death. Seems the hardest part is facing our equality in the time we spend in-between the two. Maybe one day we will realize we all are equally special ,unique and in the differences between us there is more commonality than we acknowledge.

Well hope you enjoyed my Random Thoughts For today

I always wonder why that people tend to be so negative in nature when life itself is something of wonder and of beauty. I understand how life tends to throw curve balls at us and how external influences can become roadblocks and pitfalls on our journey through life. Bad and unfortunate events occur, there is little we can do about those kind of things. All we can do is choose to either be someone who reacts to such things or be a person who has learned to act to minimize the negative effects of such. Being reactionary is to let instinct take control and not allow our reasoning skills to figure out the most beneficial action to take in response to the situation.

Being a reactionary type person is basically being someone who leaves most of his or her decisions in life up to chance. Sometimes we only have that choice, but most of the time we do have the choice and ability to reason out a better way to respond to circumstances than just instinctually. Putting it in a nutshell so to speak is to say it is better to think things through than just letting our instincts control our actions and reactions. Step back and look at the whole situation and all the circumstances surrounding it before taking any kind of action. For it is wise to think before you act instead of acting hastily without any thought of both the circumstances and consequences that one could face.

We always must remember that not only our actions can cause us to face consequences but also the words we speak. Responsibility of both our words and actions fall solely on ourselves, the consequences of both are our responsibility as well. In the end we shall face the consequences of our choices, actions and words. Be it through karma, judgement by a supreme being or just plain fate we will face our choices in life. So one would think it would be far wiser to be mindful of what actions and words you choose in life

A few quotes to ponder on…

Think before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another. – Napoleon Hill

Think before you act and act on what you believe. – Bo Bennett

Before you act, listen. Before you react, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try. – Ernest Hemingway
