011  Honor, honesty, community and compassion are dying principles in our modern society. So are things such as communication and co-operation.  Too many set in their ways, so many unable to see beyond their own little bubbles of reality. It is us or them mentality seems to be prevalent, while such things as compassion, mercy and charity seem to be put aside. We tend to make each other adversaries or enemies as we ignore the real threat to us all. Ignorance, bigotry, elitism, complacency and lethargy threaten humanity’s ability to function and possibly threaten our future.

We allow such things as greed, lust, selfishness and fear get in the way of a better world for our children and the generations to follow. What kind of world do we want to leave for them to inherit? A world full of poverty, social division and inequality? Wars, famine and hatred?  I would hope we all desire a more peaceful and equally balanced world for our children.  A world where knowledge, compassion, honor and co-operation are cornerstones to society.

What kind of legacy will we leave? what will we leave for the next generation to deal with? Shouldn’t we try to face and fix the problems in our generation so the next can focus on their own? Fear and hatred needs to be controlled and put aside for the good of all humanity.

008Sometimes we seem to forget how wonderful of  gift life is, we sometimes take life for granted. Thing about life is for us humans it’s not long nor is it guaranteed to be trouble-free. So we have good days, bad days and sometimes days that are unforgettable. In life we have the blessing of family and good friends, one you can not choose and the other you can not deny. Family is never perfect but you love them and they you in the end. Friends are either close or distant but both are there to help you along in life and there for you to share life with. Eventually from your friends you find a soul mate or partner to go through life with.

All the wonder and imagination we had as children doesn’t go away it just gets toned down or put away as we get older in order to fit in to society. We sacrifice some of the greatest qualities within us to be a part of society unfortunately. We hide them, put them away or tone them down to almost non-existent in order to keep from being a social outcast.

We go from innocent beings of wonder and imagination to beings of order and conformity. We sacrifice that which makes us wonderful in order to gain possessions, fame or at least acceptance by the whole. Individuality is becoming a thing of the past, more and more it seems individuality is labeled as antisocial or undesirable behavior by modern society. The interesting part of this is that most of the men and women that have changed the world through science, invention and ideals were those that society wouldn’t have embraced. They were in one way or another eccentric or nonconformist. Freewill, free thought and the freedom to be ones true self are keys to having a creative and ever-changing society.

one’s life is but a drop of water in the infinite wellspring of time, so be your true self, do not waste time being someone who you are not. Embrace the better qualities within yourself and care not about acceptance or rejection.  For acceptance and rejection both are part of life, neither makes any difference to who you are or what you can do.

Live free, live compassionately and do all you do with passion. Be yourself for you are the only person like yourself, a one of a kind.

Saturday morning thoughts 5/24/14

003Sometimes I believe we get so wrapped up in the thought “what is there in it for me” we tend to forget what is in it for the greater good. It’s only natural to want to take care of your own needs and wants, but we must learn to put the needs of everyone at the same level of priority as our own. I mean we must look at ourselves in such a way that we realize that as an individual we are not the center of the universe.

All life is precious, from the single cell organisms to the most complex multi celled life form.  Here on earth almost everything has life in it or on its surface. Life looms everywhere and its such a miracle and wondrous thing to behold. We are all apart of this miraculous thing called life and we all share the same home which we call earth. No species should be looked upon as lesser for all life forms have their purpose here. We human beings have the biggest influence on the environment and the world we live in. We can change our environment to suit our wants and needs unlike any other creäture before us. With such power and abilities we should be more responsible for our actions and take on the role of caretakers or this precious resource called planet earth and all the life upon it

Earth was a gift to us, we are the ones whom can destroy it or restore it.  The choice is ours far as how we treat our home and all the other life forms  that we share it with. How we choose to treat our home will decide the fate of our children and their children’s children.

What are the caretakers of this world

IMG_1413What are the caretakers of this world, we were given the responsibility to care for and maintain this wondrous gift that we call Earth.  We have walked down the path of destruction and not one of nurturing and preservation far too long, if we do not change our course we shall lose this planet we call home. Time to plant trees, clean up industry and preserve what wildlife we have remaining. We need the wildlife and the plant life we have here on earth to survive, we also need the air and water we have to be clean to survive as well. What is profit compared to the lives of the many future generations of our kind? It is illogical to seek profit that only destroys or harms  your households future generations.

The love of money only leads to the los of true treasures such as those you love and the future of your household. Imagine what kind of world your great-grandchild will have or even your great great grandchild. Do you want them to have clean water, air and food to eat? Do you want them to see the wonders of the forests and the wildlife they contain?  God gave us this world to live in and he also gave it to us to care for. It’s only fair to care for the earth since it has always provided us with what we needed to survive. If we neglect our home to long it will become so damaged it may not be able to support life anymore.

Until God calls us home to heaven we should care for the home he has blessed us with.

Realizing the fact we may be alone

EarthEveryday is a new beginning, Every moment is precious in its own way. Every living thing is a miracle as well as precious. Life is not some common thing as we all assume, many planets have the right conditions and still are void of life if not at least complex life. The unlikeliness of a planet being in that sweet spot of perfect sun light and oxygen rich atmosphere along with water is rare. And Sentient life in its self seems at this time to be only indigenous to our planet called earth. This is not to say that there isn’t other inhabited worlds or not , only pointing out what is known to be true at the moment. Of course the odds of other life forms being out there in the universe is a high probability but the chances of that life being sentient and/or intelligent is questionable at least.

Realizing the fact we may be alone in the universe or at least that earth is one of the few miracle planets with complex life forms and sentient beings such as humans as its inhabitants we should cherish life.  We should put aside our petty differences and our different paths of religion and spiritual beliefs along with political views in order to build a better world and global society. We should care for one another and be the caretakers of this precious planet that we live on.

Compassion, Love, Forgiveness and understanding are keys to a better world and a better future for our children. Responsibility and Diplomacy are the keys to better governing and a path to peace if it’s tempered with compassion and forgiveness.

Greed is the seed of most wrong doing in our world.

Writing, The Gift of Freewill and our path in life.

006 Ever since I was a kid I loved to write songs, poetry and even some philosophy. I do not know what drove my mind to be so contemplative but it has been that way all my life. Some of it was probably my low self-esteem  or poor self-image I have had to battle throughout my life. Some of it was from my disappointment in how our world works, the unfairness and the lack of balance this world has. A lot of it was the hopefulness within my inner self. I have always sought out the silver lining in every situation and for the most part I still do. With age comes wisdom but also age brings cynicism and doubtfulness. Don’t understand why but the older I get the harder it is to keep the positive attitude and hopefulness within me alive. it could be the fact as we grow older we face our own mortality and therefore we become bitter or jaded because we think we have been cheated in life somehow. This of course isn’t true, we were the ones who chose the path we have been on and how and what life brought to us up to this day. There are some things that we didn’t have any choice on in life but for the most part we are what we made ourselves to be. So being bitter or feeling jaded in the end is nothing but self-pity and useless. We can always change our path, our minds and our life if we put our heart and soul into it. We can’t undo the past but we can make us a new destination and path to walk as well. This is the gift of freewill God has given humanity, we have the freedom to choose and the option to allow his will to guide our choices as well.

Writing is the expression of my heart, soul and mind. It is the sum of what I feel, think and believe. It is like a map to my future that changes and grows with each word I type and eventually it will become the signposts I had left behind for others to follow and/or view. It is my freewill being expressed through my thoughts and emotions.

We only have a short time on earth to experience all its wonders and to find our true path in life. We should be kind to others and seek out harmony with all life and walk our path we have chosen in peace.

Work together to better our communities and our world

062 Every one of us has a story, each one of us influences the world around us. How we influence and how much we contribute is up to us. But there is no such thing as an unimportant person, we all are important, special and unique to God. We all are a part of the great machine called life. We as individuals can change our little worlds and as a group can influence change on a global scale. This is one of the unique qualities of human beings, we can change our environments to suit our needs as well as change the course of our worlds destiny / fate.  Protests, revolutions, grass root projects and just plain speaking up can cause political, social and even cultural changes. I prefer the non violent methods of enacting change, usually the violent path only brings suffering and brings either temporary or negative results.  There are of course some circumstances that violent action is the only path but it should be the last resort.

I blog quite often about how governments tend to be out of touch with the needs of the citizens and are more focused on the rich or the powerful. How the governments fail at actually coming up with solutions to problems due to party politics and the interest groups lobbying them. We can not rely on our governments to carry the weight and should as a nation and or global community start dealing with some of the problems ourselves. Poverty, hunger, homelessness and the environment are things we as citizens can make a difference in. If we organize and work together to better our communities and our world we can achieve almost anything. Some can give money, some can just volunteer time or their expertise as well as doing grass-roots education. So much we can do on our own and probably do a far better job of it than the government could do. It is the right way to do it and almost every religion supports the idea of taking care of our fellow human beings. We can put aside our religious and cultural differences to make this world a better place if we chose to do so.

Just some thoughts, Right or Wrong there here for all to see.

Love, Compassion and peace are the keys to a better world.”

The Voices of the Many and the Few

The Earth flag is not an official flag, since ...
Image via Wikipedia

As we sit in our houses and buildings made of stone, brick, wood and steel looking out the windows seeing a concrete jungle surrounding us we miss out on all the wonders of nature and the beauty of this world we live in. Species after species of animal fade into extinction along with their habitats as mankind builds more and more cities. Progress and industry overrides the survival of both man and animal in this modern world we live in. So much we have lost on our journey through civilization and towards modernization. So much is missed and so little saved in the name of progress and conquest.

The once plentiful forests and bountiful oceans our grandparents enjoyed are slowly becoming diminished and are heading to the point of no recovery. No recovery in mankind’s timeline that is, once our natural resources are gone man will either become extinct by his own hand or will have to venture out into the cold of space in search of a new home. We can however save and or slow the devastation of our home called planet earth. This will of course not be an easy task and many decisions will have to made that may not be the most economical or popular. In the long run the choices will become an economical boom and benefit all that live here on this planet.

As a precaution maybe mankind should gear up our space exploration and concentrate on finding another inhabitable planet or invest in the technologies that would make it possible to implement terraforming. Space stations are fine for a starting point but to be able to sustain life for any length of time in such an environment would be a hard task due to limited resources available in the emptiness of space. Mankind’s number one priority should be the survival of his race and then the preservation of his home. Though the likeliness of another inhabitable planet in the universe is highly probable, with the lack of technologies to reach such a planet in a human lifespan makes it an unlikely option for the time being.

The human race is a very inventive and adaptable species so we have a good chance of escaping total extinction if we are wise enough to be aware of such a danger. The biggest obstacle in the way of true human progress is our inability to cooperate with each other for any given length of time. Our difference of beliefs and opinions stands in our way for the most part, The differences we have also make us a very unique and gave us our ability to thrive. So that which makes us strong also can be our worst enemy if we do not learn to cooperate for the common good of our species.

So the natural world of earth slowly changes and dies as we adapt our environment to suit our liking. We ignore the facts and take no responsibility for the damage we have done nor the consequences that we will have to face. It is this ignorance and arrogance of mankind that may be our undoing. Luckily not all of mankind is blinded by ignorance and arrogance, but unfortunately the ones that are usually are the ones in power. The destination of mankind is in the hands of the people not the few in power. The voices of many will eventually overpower the voices of the few.
