A Great Roadblock to Happiness

Live every day like it is the last, treat each person as a friend and forgive your enemies as if they were close family. Anger just consumes its source, Most people who stay angry and bitter usually suffer from high blood pressure and even high cholesterol some of the times. Anger eats away at your personality and takes away the time that you could be happy and the energy that you could be putting towards a better life. Forgiveness is the key to a healthier and happier you, Not only forgive others for their mistakes but also learn to forgive yourself. Self forgiveness allows you to free your mind from guilt, anger and fear. Those things tend to put allot of stress on the body and the mind.

We all are humans (except for you Extra Terrestrials out there) and thus so we are prone to make mistakes sometimes even make the same one several times. Being prone to mistakes and designed to learn from them the human race has came along way since we first appeared on this planet. If it wasn’t for allot of the mistakes made by humans in the past we wouldn’t have made it this far. Some mistakes have brought us cures for diseases and technologies that may have never been found or at least would have taken us much longer to discover.

The point is that your mistakes can be more beneficial than they are troublesome. And mistakes are a natural fact of being a human. So why beat your self up over the mistakes you made or hate someone else for the same reason. That is Counterproductive and is also a great roadblock to both your happiness and the happiness of those around you. So learn to forgive yourself and others while trying to be a compassionate person. Learn from your mistakes and build on the lessons  that you have learned.

For wisdom is the knowledge you’ve gained from the lessons you have learned in your life.

Rambling on about Cataclysms

Why is it we seem to be self focused? The world according to ourselves is what matters it seems. We long for compassion and understanding but rarely show either to our fellow humans. Sadly most humans would loose their sense of morality if a great cataclysm where to befall our world. Though a few would still stand above the masses and be compassionate and or humane. Seems Society is only civilized in times of peace and normalcy. If food grows short or water supplies then we tend to go into survival mode and ignore the needs of others and look out only for ourselves and our loved ones.

Katrina in New Orleans showed both the dark side and the good side of mankind. Looting, hording and scamming happened but so did community co-operation along with some compassion towards each other. I guess their is hope for mankind in the end but there would be a struggle between the selfish power mongers and the compassionate community minded peoples. Lets just pray that the better qualities of mankind will prevail if a cataclysmic event were to befall our world.

Though I may come off a bit uncertain I really am optimistic about mankind and our ability to rise to the occasion when needed. My biggest worry is that if something cataclysmic were to happen we would have no type of authority and or infrastructure to sustain the population and we would see mass starvation and chaos. Our governments are not even close to being prepared for food shortages or severe droughts. I believe local governments should have plans for such emergencies along with state and federal government. Its the Citizens of the nations that financially support the governments and provide the labor to manufacture goods along with grow/raise the food. So the government should be looking out for the citizens well being.

I also think each and every one of us also should be prepared for possible emergency situations by keeping water and extra dry goods and non perishables. Also would be a good idea to keep what medical supplies you can purchase on hand too. Though I am a pacifist i might go as far to say make sure you have a few weapons to protect you and your family. In times of crisis there always a few people who may want to hurt others.

Healthy Pizza Recipe

For those parents who are forever seeking ways to feed their children healthy food, this will be a great solution you can add to your secret bag of tricks.  Every kid loves pizza and there is no reason they have to know just how healthy our pizza recipe is.  You know and that’s all that matters.  Besides being scrumptious, the whole family can build individual pizzas to their own liking, adding fun to health.  The more you can create associations of "tasty" and "fun" to healthy eating, the better.  Here is how you do it.

Crust
Putting the word "healthy" into pizza starts with the crust.  Most standard pizzas your kids are eating is full of nutritionally useless white  gluey flour.  Did you know that white flour spikes blood sugar faster than white sugar?  That makes white flour very addictive.  The fast alternative is using whole grain pita shells.  All grocery stores should carry them in the bread area.  They are a perfect size for making individual pizza masterpieces. Look for the thin ones, they have half the calories than the thick ones, 70 calories compared to about 150 calories.

Now you may have to take some searching and reading the ingredients time to find better food for your family to eat.  But before you know it you will familiarize yourself with a whole new part of the grocery store.  It’s worth the effort.  If you cannot find the thin type of whole grain pita shells, don’t panic, the more common thicker ones will work just fine.  Just make sure they are whole grain.

Pizza Sauce
Canned pizza sauce can be found on the shelf beside the spaghetti sauce.  Again, read the ingredients.  Try to find a brand that is not full of unpronounceable chemicals and oil, unless it is olive oil, preferably, extra virgin olive oil.

If your really ambitious, you can always make your own pizza sauce.  Blend five Roma tomatoes with two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and season with salt, garlic and Italian Spice, to taste.    To be honest, we just use the canned stuff.

Cheese
May I introduce you to goats cheese.  A goat’s digestive system is much closer to ours than a cow’s, therefore their milk is more digestible for humans.  And yes, you can buy mozzarella goats cheese.  If you don’t tell them nether will I.  The stuff tastes great!  There is also soy cheese, but again read the ingredients.  Just because it’s soy doesn’t mean it’s healthy.

If you absolutely must use regular cheese, go easy on it.  Buy stronger tasting cheese, like cheddar so you can use less.  Parmesan is great too because a little goes a long way.

Toppings
Now we get to the fun stuff.  I am going to give you a list of great pizza toppings but I am sure you can think of many more.  You can put just about anything on pizza, creating a mélange of unique flavors and bright color.  You can dice your toppings large or small.  The rule of thumb is strong flavored toppings like onion, garlic and hot pepper should be diced finely, were tomato or mushroom can be sliced.

Here is our top ten list:
tomatoes
onions
black & green olives
mushrooms
pineapple
all types of peppers
soy pepperoni
broccoli
spinach
feta cheese

Building and Baking
Prepare all the toppings ahead of time .  Preheat oven to 450 Fahrenheit. Have the pitas laid out on cookie sheets, two will fit per sheet.  You can fit two sheets in your oven.  Allow the family to build their own pizza’s, ladies before gentlemen.  Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.  Expect demands for seconds!
Suggestions: I like a little cheese under and on top of my toppings, it helps hold the mountain together.

The cooking oils below are low in saturated fats and trans fats. Some have high concentration of monounsaturated fats such as olive oil. Use corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, soy oil or canola oil if you wish to fry foods as these oils have higher smoke point. It is best not to fry with olive oil as its has a low smoke point.

Red Wine or Grape Juice

A new study has shown that red or concord grapes and grape juice is just as beneficial to your heart as red wine.  Grape juice helps your heart by relaxing your blood vessels, allowing your blood to more easily flow. This benefit is most likely due to substances called antioxidants found in the skin and seeds of grapes  especially dark red and purple grapes. you can read more about this topic at The Mayo Clinic just click the link below.

The Inner Realm, The Place In Between Pg. 1

The sun rose from the east like any other morning and like usual Jeff Bartlett started his pot of coffee and readied his self for another tedious day of work. Little did Jeff knew that fate had something a little more interesting for him than his usual trek to work. As he drove down Hwy 143 towards work a strange bright light appeared around his car and then vanished. As soon as the light disappeared Jeff was no longer on Hwy 143, He was in middle of a field of corn. Jeff stopped and stepped out and looked around to see nothing but corn for miles around him. Confused by what just has happened Jeff sat back in the car and smoked a cigarette in a slight daze. Jeff figured if he was to figure out where he was then he should try driving out of this corn field so Jeff cranked up his car  and drove slowly through the corn field.

After about ten minutes of driving he finally exited the corn field only to find a hilly grasslands with a few  trees spread out along the landscape. “Well this isn’t looking good”  Jeff said as he scratched his head trying to figure out what happened and where the heck he was.  From behind the vehicle Jeff heard a voice calling out to him saying  “Hello” and in he looked his review mirror and  saw a  old man waving at him.  The old man came up to Jeff’s window and said “You look like a man in need of directions”. Jeff looks at the old man through the window and replies “Man that’s an understatement if i have ever heard one”. The old man just smiles and tells Jeff that the directions you want are not the ones you need and starts walking away and before Jeff could even say a word the old man says “If you want directions then come sit with me by the fire” and the old man  disappeared over the hill.

Jeff gets out of his car and ran after the old man only to find him sitting on a rock by a campfire beside a small pond. The old man waves at Jeff to come and sit by the fire with him. As Jeff finally sits on the ground by the fire the old man looks at Jeff and says to him “I bet you wonder how you got here don’t you?” “Well don’t worry yourself over that, it isn’t all that important at least not as important as why your here.” then the old man goes silent and plays with the campfire. “Where am I anyways?” Jeff asks with a bewildered look upon his face. “Where are you?, why sitting by a campfire” the old man says wittingly. Jeff’s face begins to turn a bit red from the old mans answer and then the old man stands up and says “I am Verum Peto and you are in the inner realm, the place in between.” And then Jeff Wakes up in his bed at home thinking it all was a dream.

To Be Continued

The Physical and Spiritual paths are one in the same.

Going through life in servitude to your partner if done out of true love and devotion is a Nobel and worthy path to follow. To be selfless and dedicated to bringing happiness to those you care about is a higher spiritual calling very few follow. Most people avoid such a path because it doesn’t serve their desires and wants. We go through life seeking happiness and get misled to believe the only way to obtain it is through selfish acts and thoughts. Lets say their is two sides to a person one that is of the material world and mind and one that is of the non material or spiritual world. They both coexist and compliment each other if kept balanced.

Many eastern beliefs hold on to the total spiritual path when I myself see both the physical and spiritual as one path combined. We live in the physical world so we must interact with it and we are bound by its laws for the most part. We also are Spiritual so we also must interact with it and we are bound by its laws too. Most of the rules of the spiritual world is reflected in the physical world. To only be one or the other is to deny half of what we are, we must embrace both but in balance. Neither is evil nor good. It is you, the self that chooses good or evil either willingly or through ignorance.

How you choose to be and to believe is solely your choice and responsibility and you will be held responsible for most if not all of what you do and choose. Remember that so you will choose wisely and learn all you can so you may be able to choose the right course for yourself. Follow not any teacher, guru or religious leader, follow your own path so the penalties and rewards you reap will be from your own choices not that of another. Learn from them but choose your own path.

We all are residents of planet Earth

Our modern world is facing so many different challenges and the governments of the world are all trying to deal with these challenges in their own ways. With so many human beings on this planet you would think we could come up with some inventive solutions to the problems we are facing. Unfortunately very few good ideas get past the draft stage if they even get thought of by government officials at all.

With the fear of one world government in the minds of the conspiracy theorists and being spread by the talk show hosts it makes it hard for countries to co-operate and come up with global solutions. We do not need one world government in order to solve the problems we face we just need to put our differences aside and co-operate to come up with solutions that we can implement on a global scale.

I also believe the governments are cheating themselves out of allot of possible solutions by not utilizing the private sector and the mind power of their general public. Some of the most innovative ideas come from the average person. I think all of us should try to get together and find solutions to the problems we face today and present them to our governments. No guarantee they will listen but at least we can go to bed at night knowing we tried to make a difference instead of watching it grow.

We all are residents of planet Earth regardless of nationality, color, religion or our sex. We should recognize this fact and act responsibly and put effort into making our world and its future a better place for all.
