For the students of today are the leaders, inventors and visionaries of tomorrow.

No child left behind, a step forward for some and a heavy load to others. To put those who are mentally challenged into the main stream classes is a novel and good idea as long as it does not hinder the education of any other student. The idea is a sound idea if it is implemented in a fashion that both does not discriminate nor hinder the education of the student body. At this time I have heard comments stating that the no child left behind program has some problems that need to be addressed. The question is how do we bring the mentally challenged up to speed or at least a reasonable level of learning without holding back the rest of the class? The benefits the Mentally Challenged receive can be quite beneficial to them. I am all for no child left behind for the most part but i am concerned about the problems with the program that has yet to be addressed. What is the solution to the problems that no child left behind is facing, I am not sure for that is something better left to the educators and government to figure out and fix. All I will say is the education of our youths should be the first and highest priority to both our state and federal governments. For the students of today are the leaders, inventors and visionaries of tomorrow.

If Enough People Got Together

If Washington is going to survive the recent wave of political change in America it is going to have to get on the side of the average American . The Working Class is the backbone of America, not the rich. The rich may control corporate America but the working man built it and sustains it financially. Those people  who makes around minimum wage is greater in numbers than the politician,Doctor and C.E.O. Executive who make more in a year than some do in a lifetime.  But who has the greater voice in out capital in the end? The big businesses and the politician who are backed by them. I can not say every politician puts wealth and power above his duties to the citizens he represents but if you examine the bills passed in congress it seems most of them are written to benefit  corporate America more than Americans in general.

The  president won his office thanks to the average Joe and his/her votes and so did all of the congress. You would think they would care more about the voters who got them in office than the lobbyists and the corporations behind them. I do believe there are some in congress and Washington that do care and listen, just not enough to make a difference. I also believe if enough people got together and voiced their concerns to our capitol then congress would have to listen. We the people of The united states is what the constitution says and not we the wealthy or we the corporations. Maybe I am just believing in the fairy tale that the USA is a free nation and has a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Well who knows only time will only tell.

Acceptance, Self-Esteem and Happiness

We go through life either seeking acceptance from our peers or rebelling against the mass ideology. Most seek acceptance by their peers and do so to try and find self acceptance. By nature we crave to belong to the groups around us. We somehow transform being accepted by society into self-esteem. Remember the phrase “You can not love others until you learn to love yourself”? Well it has a ring of truth, if one can accept who and what they are how are they to expect others to do the same? To rely on approvals and praises of others to fuel you happiness is only a path that will make you depressed and lost. One should find peace with whom they are for you are responsible for your own happiness.

This is not to say others can not enhance your happiness and help you along the way it is merely stating that unless you find happiness in who and what you are then you will never truly be happy. One thing one must remember is that each and every one of us are human and prone to make mistakes and to be full of faults of one type or another. So not one person is greater than the other, just one may have different faults and have made different or less mistakes. Learn to forgive the mistakes you have made along with the mistakes of others and learn from them all. The mistakes you make are nothing more than a learning process everyone must go through. For as the faults we all have they are there for us to overcome and to learn by as well.

The more I accept myself for who and what I am the less i care about what others think or feel about me. This is because I realize that what others think or feel is not in my control and has no bearing on who and what I am. Though I still care about everyone in my life I also have found I now care about myself as well.

The Mind, Body and Soul

We are born into the physical world where there are rules governing the physical universe and our physical existence. While we grow in age our knowledge and wisdom increases but so does our bond to the physical world around us. We tend to get tunnel vision and forget there is more there than what we can touch, see and perceive. When we are young our imagination is wild and we are more in tune with our spiritual self. As we age we seem to become more materialistic and slowly neglect if not deny our spiritual self. This causes a imbalance within our existence which can cause mental and physical ailment. The Mind, Body and Soul are in a symbiotic relationship if one is neglected it causes another to suffer in one way or another. The Soul is the nurturer and the creative force in ones life and the mind is the problem solver along with the communication center for the body. The body is merely the vehicle and tool to interact with the physical universe. All three are very important and all necessary to exist in the physical universe.

Modern life and fight or flee mode.

Sometimes the world around us seems to consume that which is our true essence and nature.
The daily grind of managing the tasks at work and the constant attention required to maintain the
relationships both at work and at home. Our focus becomes diffused and randomly placed in the
modern world. Stress ensues as we try to juggle all the tasks we have in daily life and we seem to
forget about actually living. The modern life we lead keeps us so busy that we never have time to be
who we really are. We get stuck in the fight or flee mode and never have the time to rest or to be
self aware. We also start having tunnel vision which makes us unaware of all the wonderful things
going on around us every day.

We are not meant to be in fight or flee mode all the time, that mode was created in our subconscious to
protect us in time of danger, not as a way of life. Besides the fact being stuck in that mode can cause
stress it also leads some people into depression and also causes some people to have a hard time
focusing on tasks before them. Our bodies and minds try to get things in balance by looking for ways to
escape from reality, unfortunately some of us choose alcohol and or drugs as the escape with and when
abused can cause more harm than good.

We all need a little escape from reality in order to put the mind in another mode besides fight or flee.
Some ways of escaping are and can be, Walking, jogging, exercise, weight lifting, reading, writing,
yoga, meditation, tai chi and many more. Each of these ways have their benefits to the body and mind
in one way or another. Which way is best is more of a personal choice due to we are all different and
my find one way more relaxing and beneficial than another.

Count your Blessings and forget your curses

Sometimes we go through parts of our life where we seem to forget how important those around us are to us or we tend to neglect letting them know we do appreciate them and love them. We get so caught up in our own battles and dilemmas to the point of becoming self absorbed, This of course is never intentional but is a unfortunate side effect of our modern world. The lack of time to spend at home and with friends makes what little time we do spend with them very low quality. Our busy schedules have us pinning our own time against the time we share with others so to keep us in a self absorbed state. Sometimes we just need to stop and look around us and reevaluate our priorities and our goals. Family should be a higher priority than work or friends, Then we should balance the rest of priorities with work and friends etc..  We should find a healthier balance between work, friends and alone time so as not to neglect one or the other.

We should always take a moment each day to remind ourselves about the great things we are blessed with and to show our appreciation to those who enrich our lives. Count your blessings and forget your curses is my philosophy. Though a very hard rule to follow but it sure makes more sense to focus on the good thing than to worry to death about the bad.

Random Thoughts on Self

Why is it seem we always look to others to validate ourselves and to feel worthy? The only opinion we can change and or maintain is our own. Our self worth is based on our own self realization and therefore the opinions of others though useful is of no concern to our self identity. It nice to have others like you and appreciate who and what you are but it is wrong to base your self image on the perceptions of others.Advice from others and their opinions can help one see flaws and talents that they were not aware of. But only you yourself can know the true inner self and what causes are behind your flaws or talents etc. Not everyone is going to like you and not many will ever truly understand you.

Each of us are unique individuals with our own experiences in life. No one person is the same nor are we all so different we can not find understanding. Seek to know the real and unadulterated you and accept yourself for who and what you are. Their is no one who is better or worse than you just others who have different faults and gifts. We all have to go through trials and triumphs in our lives and not everyone can be the lead actor/actress in the play we call life.  Just remember there is no such thing as small part just small actors/actresses.

Self Deception

Self Deception is common in most people in one way or another we lie to ourselves in order to either avoid hurt or to induce a false sense of happiness, peace and so on. Some self deception is a auto defense response from the brain to protect us from severe mental and emotional damage during a traumatic event. This type of self deception is healthy up to a point. Eventually one must face what had happened in order to move on. This type of self deception gives the person a buffer zone in order to face and deal with the traumatic event. If this type of self deception remains for too long of time then it can be a barrier from ever moving forward with ones life and is quite unhealthy.

Then there is the self deception that one creates to avoid responsibility for their actions and the mistakes they have made.  Though this self deception may make you to feel guilt free and innocent but that is too a deception in its self. Regardless of how one tries to avoid the guilt it is there deep within you subconscious and it has significant influence on your behavior and thought processes.  You must always face your mistakes and take responsibility for your actions so you can learn what and what not to do in life. The guilt you feel will remind you to not repeat the mistake/action again and once you accept the blame for it then you must find forgiveness for yourself. Its all part of life to make mistakes and to make wrong choices, So don’t be too hard on yourself. Forgive yourself for the mistakes but remember the lessons.

Do not deceive yourself or others and you shall find truth. Take responsibility for your actions and you will make less mistakes.
